Vinyl decals are made with a cutting plotter which moves a small rotating blade according to the loaded digital artwork while the vinyl material is automatically rolled up and down the slider.
Once the design has been completely carved on the film, the material is taken out of the plotter and all the excess parts are manually lifted and peeled away. This process is called weeding.
The next step is to cover the vinyl graphic with the application tape which allows the whole design including all its loose parts to be transferred to a surface as one decal. |
